Rebuilding a Neighborhood Street from the Ground Up

Duininck

Duininck completed a full reconstruction of Dale Street SW in Hutchinson, Minnesota, transforming a residential corridor through major infrastructure, safety, and pavement improvements. The project addressed aging utilities, drainage concerns, deteriorated pavement conditions, and pedestrian accessibility.

Work included full-depth reclamation and new bituminous pavement, curb and gutter replacement, storm sewer improvements, watermain and hydrant upgrades, sidewalk and driveway replacements, and new traffic control and pedestrian crossing features. The completed project delivers improved ride quality, better drainage, and safer conditions for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Duininck served as the prime contractor and self-performed the majority of the work, including utility installation, base preparation, concrete and asphalt paving, lighting, and associated appurtenances. Construction began on June 5, 2025, and was completed by August 29, 2025, covering approximately one-half mile of roadway.

The project required careful coordination to balance technical complexity with the needs of residents. Strong collaboration between Duininck, the City of Hutchinson, and the design team helped ensure the project progressed smoothly. The project was recognized with a Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association award, reflecting Duininck’s commitment to quality workmanship and strong partnerships.
