In 2022, the City of Benson, Minnesota, hired Duininck to replace underground water main valves to improve system efficiency. Underground utility work carries significant risk, and the Duininck Safety Team worked closely with the Underground Crew to keep safety a top priority throughout the project.
The work required excavation at depths ranging from eight to twelve feet, with soil conditions that varied at each location. Crews monitored trench and soil conditions daily to meet OSHA requirements and maintain a safe work environment. The Safety Team also visited the site to verify proper equipment use, provide guidance, and conduct safety audits.
The project embodied Duininck’s commitment to building a strong safety culture through preparation, training, and accountability at every level.
